Caving In To the Reconquistadors
A few days ago the principal of a high school in Longmont Colorado banned students from displaying the American flag.
Skyline High School Principal Tom Stumpf said American flags were brazenly waved in the faces of Hispanic students and in one case a Mexican flag was thrown into the face of another student.
“When it involves the American flag and its abuse in vilifying other people, we simply will not tolerate it,” Stumpf said. “They were using the symbol derisively as misguided patriotism.”
Why is the patriotism of those kids misguided? How else should they respond to the America-hating lawbreakers draped in Mexican flags who’ve been out in full force these past few days taunting citizens? Why shouldn’t kids be able to show their love for America IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY? Yes, it might annoy the illegals. But hey! Their parents snuck broke our laws by sneaking in here. And as a result the kids are getting a free education. So as far as I’m concerned, they should either shut up or go back to Mexico. Now granted, I don’t live in Colorado, but I am tempted to either call up that principal and give him a piece of mind for being such dickless woman, or send him an angry email.
But there’s more! Now students at Shaw Heights Middle School, also in Colorado are forbidden to wear patriotic attire.
Students at Shaw Heights Middle School are no longer allowed to wear anything that’s patriotic, including camouflage pants, because they have become a political symbol for a version of patriotism.

Myla Shepherd, the principal, said that tensions over the immigration issue were apparent when more than 20 students came to school wearing camouflage jackets and pants, apparently to show what they call their patriotism and American pride.
“We started seeing name calling,” Shepherd said. “Safety is my first concern so I’m going to do things to keep us from getting to a point where anybody is hurt or being suspended for fighting.”
Safety my foot!!! I did’t see anything about banning sombreros or Mexican flags. Sounds like she just wants to protect the feelings of the Mexican kids against the big bad right wing America lovers.
Now tell me, what is this world coming to when people are forbidden to show their patriotism in their own country for fear of offending interlopers??? I read some place that all great civilizations eventually end up committing suicide, and I believe that’s what we’re seeing now.

At some level, I would agree that waving something directly in someone’s face, or getting into their “personal space” with an American flag, a Mexican flag, or a fish for that matter is out of control. But that shows the problem is more that these administrators cannot control the students and don’t want to take real necessary measures to do so. Instead, they set double standards in the name of pandering and political correctness.
