The MSM Hits Back at the President

Editor and Publisher gives a quick listing of all the editorials criticizing President Bush for his criticism of the New York Times on leaking info. on the NSA intercepts.

Now the New York Times, being the DNC organ publication it truly is, hit out yesterday with a story on how the big, bad FBI has been conducting surveillance on the nice people of PETA, Greenpeace and the Catholic Workers Group.

Personally, I don’t think these groups are benign.

First off, PETA excuses the actions of the extreme Animal Liberation Front, which is on the FBI’s list of terror organizations.

As for Greenpeace, their modus operandi seems to be blockading military ports. Not exactly harmless activity.

In terms of the Catholic Workers group, could they be the same one who went to visit the Guantanamo prisoners?

But notice that the New York Times doesn’t even bother to look into why the FBI would be watching these groups. It’s as if by them just being under surveillance, these groups become (to the Times at least) little Davids fighting against a big bad Goliath (the Bush Administration). I guess they just count on the most people not knowing, or caring about what these groups really stand for.

See, I guess the real problem is when you try to compare these groups to actual terrorists like, say Al Qaeda, you kinda wonder why the FBI thinks it’s necessary to infiltrate them. And last time I checked, visiting detainees in Gitmo doesn’t get you on the list, or the FBi would be infiltrating the Red Cross. Wait a second…

In the last ten years, left-wing terrorist groups in the US has destroyed $100 million of property mostly through arson. It is a miracle that people were not killed in those incidents. $100 million will build one office building.

So the score so far is:

domestic left-wing terrorist groups: 1 office building
Al Qaida : 2 office buildings

Incidentally, Earth-First, the terrorist arm of the environmental movement, is organized into independent cell structures exactly like Al Qaida. Thus the US must use the same techniques in identifying Earth-First terrorists as we do for Al Qaida terrorists.
