Point of No Return

The Point of No Return

There is much disagreement as to who said the words in the next few paragraphs. Many people attribute them to an eighteenth century Scotsman named Alexander Tytler, but regardless of the author, when taken literally and applied to today, they are chilling to say the least.

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.

A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years those nations always progressed through the following sequence.

From bondage to spiritual faith
From spiritual faith to great courage
From courage to liberty
From liberty to abundance
From abundance to complacency
From complacency to apathy
From apathy to dependence
From dependence into bondage”

I have long felt there is an element among the left wing of American politics whose interest is creating a formidable voting block, a herd of sheep if you will, which neither looks at issues or international politics but at which party and candidates are going to give them the most entitlements.

Case in point, welfare. Look at what happened in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit. The people in some districts of the city had become so dependent on the government they couldn’t do anything for themselves. They just sat it out and waited for someone to come and get them.

While the people of the Mississippi South coast immediately started picking up the pieces and rebuilding their communities and the people of the Midwest were on the scene the day after the recent storms, salvaging what they could and making plans to get on with their lives, the unfortunate people of New Orleans were bussed to other cities where they immediately swelled the public relief rolls and the crime statistics.

Who do you think they vote for in an election?

Case in point, illegal immigration.

Fact 1: Somewhere between 11 to 22 million dollars are spent on welfare to illegal aliens by state governments every year.

Fact 2: Over 2 million dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs for illegals.

Fact 3: Two and a half billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegals

Fact 4: Twelve billion dollars a year is spent on the education of children who are here illegally and cannot speak English.

And the list goes on, but you get the idea.

Who do you think these people are going to vote for if, or I should probably say when they become eligible?

The massive health care proposals being put forth by Barack Hussein Obama are nothing more than Socialized medicine.

His tax rate-hiking proposals are nothing less than income redistribution.

If Barack Obama gets into office and is able to implement the Socialist programs he proposes, I don’t know if he and his kind will ever be voted out of office again.

Because every day he is in office the number of those feeding at the public trough will grow and eventually approach critical mass until we reach the point of no return.

This bears repeating:

“A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.”

What do you think?

Pray for our troops

God Bless America

So, the question is what to do. Similar to the old questions Communists argued over a hundred years ago — should you try to help ‘The People’ improve their existence. Or, is it better to let things deteriorate, so as to hasten the Revolution?
I think we are morally obliged to speak the truth — the course we’re on leads to disaster.

I suspect it is a “race” between Democracy and Capitalism, to see which one crashes and burns first–but then again, MAN could blow himself off the planet before then!

  3. JOYCE SPIES Says:

Way to scary for America & our children.

OCM, it’s more of a race between democracy and tyranny, or capitalism and socialism. I know you have some problems with capitalism, but I think it’s the perversion of capitalism that is the problem. We do not have free-market capitalism these days; it’s kind of an abomination of the concept. Capitalism is the purest form of exchange between humans yet because it involves choices; to buy or not to buy; to sell or not to sell. Under socialism your choices are limited and your free-will as a human being are removed; the State determines what your choices are.

I can refute any example of the “immorality” of capitalism that you can cite by showing you that there is no free-market involved.

Pure capitalism is determined by one simple concept: A thing or person is worth only what somebody is willing to pay for it. That is about as equitable as it gets.

Joyce, what is scary is denial; the fact that so many people pretend the problem isn’t there or if they acknowledge it, just don’t want to deal with it. And don’t worry about “the children.” Every generation has inherited, to one extent or another, the mistakes of previous generations. I am the child of baby-boomers, possibly the most fortunate generation in recent history, and they squandered their blessings. I don’t begrudge the boomers, nor do I feel victimized. I was raised to be strong, with the ability to adapt, overcome, and survive, and I feel that this current generation lacks those qualities. THAT is scary. Teach your kids those qualities, and they’ll be way ahead of the game; that’s what I’m doing with my kids.

  6. Oldcatman Says:

Unfortunately, there are too many folks who can not deal with this reality, so let they let the crap slide–and suddenly an OBAMA rides into town and is going to change everything for the better!

  7. spartan Says:

there are way too many wholes in this guys campaign. great article

  8. Jonny Wonder Says:

I’m very impressed with this man’s intentions of taking from the many, to give to the many. Unfortunately, I won’t be receiving any; just asked to give. And therefore, I’m voting for the old guy.
