Unfortunately for the Donkies, and their illegal alien constituents, the Supreme Court got this one exactly right.

Justice Souter said that the law “imposes an unreasonable and irrelevant burden on voters who are poor and old”.

I wonder if Justice Souter thought of how the poor and old file for their Social Security and welfare benefits? Does he think that they just waltz into the office and say “I’m John Smith and I’m here for my benefits” without providing any picture ID? Does he realize these people have to have picture ID in order to cash their benefit check? Picture ID is also required to open a checking account.

One other thing. In order to vote, you have to be registered. When you register, don’t you have to prove who you are? I know I had to.

The funny part is that it was Justice John Paul Stevens who put Souter in his place. For once, an honest streak struck the good Justice. Maybe Teddy Kennedy was right to call him a right winger in 1975? LOL

Short story: stepson went to DMV to get license. 2nd person in front was hispanic, barely spoke English, was out in 3 minutes without showing ID, only residence. Lady in front of stepson was “white”, hassled for 10 minutes, had to give everything except numbers of warts on grandma’s feet. Stepson, whose last name is hispanic, got to counter. Lady at counter was terribly confused because stepson looks “American” but has hispanic name. He only spent 5 minutes at counter, with not much more than minimal hassle. DMV people don’t want anyone screaming discrimination!

Point is, Oregon has a motor-voter system. Does it take proof of citizenship to get a license here? Didn’t a few years ago, and as far as I know it still doesn’t. That’s why every candidate from prez to dogcatcher courts the hispanics, sometimes to the exclusion of citizens.

Am I p.o.’d about it? You bet I am. Does it make me racist? Only by liberal standards.

The SCOTUS finally got one right.

Here in Colorado we must show ID to vote—

I, of course, always show my license.

My nephew who does not drive, shows his Colorado “ID card”.

We have a local election next Tuesday—I’ll try and get an approved ID list…..
