Update On The Brooklyn Madrassa
The Thomas More Law Center is representing groups that are opposed to the Khalil Gibran International Academy, on the grounds of it being nothing more than an incubator for radical Islam.
The Law Center will act as co-counsel with attorney David Yerushalmi, who filed a Freedom of Information Act request on July 23, 2007 asking for more specific details about KGIA. Thus far, his requests have gone unanswered, leading to increased suspicion that the school as currently configured cannot meet state educational standards. Moreover, several factors, including an executive summary of the KGIA proposal, point to the school as an anti-American, anti-Christian, and anti-Jewish propaganda center paid for by American tax dollars.
This is very good news, especially when it comes so soon after the resignation of Debbie Almontaser, the school’s principal and founder for promoting “NYC Intifada” t-shirts.
Naturally Ms Almontaser’s resignation did not sit well with the assorted moonbat groups who are for the school. Furthermore, the Department of Education distanced itself from this pro-Madrassa protest.
On another positive note, a group called Stop The Madrassa is pushing for the resignation of Imam Al-Hajj Talib Abdur-Rashid, a cleric at a Harlem mosque, who is also one of the Madrassa’s advisers.
The Stop the Madrassa Coalition, includes about 70 community members, some of them public school parents, according to the group. Supporters include a group that opposes illegal immigration, New Yorkers for Immigration Control and Enforcement, and a group that describes itself as a watchdog against domestic terrorism, the United American Committee, according to the group’s website.
Somehow, I don’t think this school will even open on September 4. Even if it does, I’m pretty sure it will soon be closed.
I mean, what on earth are Mayor Bloomberg and Joel Klein trying to pull here? Can you imagine us ever having a German language/culture public school during World War II? Considering that we’re at war with radical Islamists, we should be closing off all immigration from the Middle East, and encouraging the Muslims already here to either assimilate or leave.
