Cease Fire In Lebanon?
Unfortunately, the cease fire has been approved by the Israeli government, and it went into effect this morning, Lebanese time. And so far, it seems like business as usual.
Israel said it would maintain its air and sea blockade on Lebanon to prevent re-supply of Hezbollah before an international force arrives to monitor the borders.
——–
The leader of Hezbollah, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, has said that Hezbollah will continue to fight Israeli troops as long as they are on Lebanese soil. Israel is committed to stopping all its offensive military actions, but has pledged to respond to attacks.
Israel has also said its troops will continue to destroy Hezbollah facilities and supplies in the areas it controls until they are handed over to the Lebanese Army and United Nations troops.
——–
It was not clear just when an expanded United Nations force, known as Unifil, would be ready to deploy, nor has an agreement been reached on which country would lead the force.
Israeli forces are expected to pull back gradually from Lebanon as the Lebanese Army and Unifil move together to take over sectors Israel now holds.
In other words, the Israelis can fire if fired upon until UNIFIL arrives, at which point the hezbos will launch further attacks while hiding under their skirts.
But a Lebanese cabinet meeting set for Sunday to discuss the enforcement of the United Nations Security Council resolution, including the disarmament of Hezbollah and the deployment of the Lebanese Army southward, was postponed indefinitely, apparently because of objections by Hezbollah, which has two ministers in the cabinet.
No, no no! We musn’t let our beloved hezbo benefactors be disarmed! How else will they kill all those pesky JOOOS?!?? Luckily for Lebanon, there is nothing in the latest UN resolution calling for the disarming of Hezbollah.
This is what happens when lefites try and fight against terrorists. Olmert deserves to have his a– thrown out. I mean, what sovereign country is really obligated to the UN?
Still, there was a tiny bit of good news, as the IDF managed to kill six hezbo terrorists just before the cease fire went into effect.
