Obama’s Justice Department Files Yet Another Lawsuit Against Arizona

This time, the suit is against the Phoenix area Maricopa Community Colleges for requiring non-citizens to show green cards in order to be hired for jobs.

The Justice Department filed another lawsuit against immigration practices by Arizona authorities, saying Monday that a network of community colleges acted illegally in requiring noncitizens to provide their green cards before they could be hired for jobs.

{snip}

In Monday’s lawsuit, Justice officials said the colleges discriminated against nearly 250 noncitizen job applicants by mandating that they fill out more documents than required by law to prove their eligibility to work. That violated the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, the department said.

The law’s anti-discrimination provision “makes it unlawful to treat authorized workers differently during the hiring process based on their citizenship status,” said Thomas E. Perez, assistant attorney general for Justice’s Civil Rights Division. He said the government “is acting now to remedy this pattern or practice of discrimination.”

{snip}

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, a Justice Department unit that adjudicates immigration cases. It was filed on behalf of Zainul Singaporewalla, a U.S. permanent resident who was offered a math teaching position at Glendale Community College, part of the Maricopa network.

After filling out a federal form attesting to his immigration status and producing a driver’s license and Social Security card, he was told to complete another form with more immigration-related information, the lawsuit said.

That form required other documents and his green card. When he couldn’t present his green card, the suit said, the college would not process his paperwork and would not let him work.

The government is asking a judge within the Justice Department unit to order the Maricopa colleges to pay a civil penalty of $1,100 for each of the 247 non-U.S.-citizen job applicants it says were required to produce the additional documents. It says the colleges ended the practice in January.

In other words, Obama’s Justice Department is taking the side of an illegal alien, who is stealing American jobs over the very citizens he’s supposed to serve.

Obama Rats Out Arizona To The U.N. Human Rights Council

Not content to sue an American state trying desperately to protect its citizens and its sovereignty, Obama has now included the controversial Arizona immigration law that was largely gutted (thanks to an activist judge appointed by Bill Clinton) in its first ever report to the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Of course our POTUS had the help of left wing, anti-American organizations in putting together this report.

The report – which now goes to the U.N. for review — was drawn up following a series of consultative sessions between January and April involving federal agencies and civil society organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, NAACP, American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and Human Rights First.

The report’s compilation is part of the “universal periodic review” (UPR) process in which the HRC probes every U.N. member-state’s human rights record once every four years.

Here’s what was written about the Arizona immigration law:

– On immigration, the report says the U.S. seeks to build an effective and fair system of enforcement, and last year began a major overhaul of the immigration detention system. It notes ongoing court action contesting the controversial Arizona immigration law. “President Obama remains firmly committed to fixing our broken immigration system, because he recognizes that our ability to innovate, our ties to the world, and our economic prosperity depend on our capacity to welcome and assimilate immigrants.”

Of course the great Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is not taking this lying down. She demanded the White House take back the reference to the Arizona immigration law be taken out of the report to the UNHRC.

In a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Brewer says it is “downright offensive” that a state law would be included in the report, which was drafted as part of a UN review of human rights in all member nations every four years.

“The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a state of the United States to ‘review’ by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional,” Brewer wrote.

Here’s what Governor Brewer had to say on the Greta Van Susteren show.

Now while I’m on the subject of the U.N., here’s what one Arizona sherif had to say about them.

(CNSNews.com) – Sheriff Larry Dever, whose officers patrol Cochise County along the border between Arizona and Mexico, said he finds it “amazing” that the U.S. State Department would refer the recently passed immigration law in his state to the United Nations Human Rights Council for review.

“Well, it’s just amazing to me,” Dever told CNSNews.com. “Course, I have about as much regard for the U.N. as I do the vermin that hides in the rocks around my house here and reaches out and tries to bite me every now and then.”

Right on, sir!

Judge Guts Most Of Arizona Immigration Law

The judge that struck down most of SB-1070 is U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton, who of course is a Clinton appointee. Here are the parts of the law that were struck down.

• Requiring a police officer to make a reasonable attempt to check the immigration status of those they have stopped;

• Forbidding police from releasing anyone they have arrested until that person’s immigration status is determined;

• Making it a violation of Arizona law for anyone not a citizen to fail to carry documentation;

• Creating a new state crime for trying to secure work while not a legal resident;

• Allowing police to make warrantless arrests if there is a belief the person has committed an offense that allows them to be removed from the United States.

Here are parts of the law that the Obama administration *did not* challenge:

Making it a crime to stop a vehicle in traffic to hire a day laborer or for someone looking for work to get into a stopped vehicle;

• Requiring state officials to work with the federal government regarding illegal immigrants;

• Allowing Arizona residents to file suit against any agency, official, city or county for adopting policies that restrict the ability of workers to enforce federal immigration law “to less than the full extent permitted by federal law.”

Here’s Governor’s Brewer’s response:

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) Rebukes John Morton Of ICE

The other day, I posted about how the head of ICE has openly refused to enforce Arizona’s new immigration law. His boss, B. Hussein says he’s going to have the DOJ examine the “civil rights” aspect of this law.

Now has anyone ever heard of an American president siding with the leader of a hostile foreign country against his own country? In this case, our so-called POTUS has openly sided with Mexico against an Arizona. Obama even had his minion John Morton tell the liberal Chicago Tribune that ICE won’t enforce Arizona’s immigration law. If this goes on, I think Arizona would be well within her rights to seceed. In fact, the Democrats have become so blatantly anti-American that secession might be the only choice decent patriotic Americans have. Anyway, here’s the video.

Aztlanist Fomenter OfTreason In Chief Addresses U.S. Congress, Dems Applaud

Of course, I’m referring to Mexico’s Felipe Calderon, whom Obama wined and dined. It just wasn’t enough that this Aztlanist fomenter of treason against the U.S. came here and criticized the Arizona immigration law, while Obama joined in. Today, Mr. Calderon addressed the U.S. Congress.

CBS/AP) Mexican President Felipe Calderon addressed a joint session of Congress Thursday, pressing lawmakers to reinstate an expired assault weapons ban and pass comprehensive immigration reform while also hailing the strength of the U.S.-Mexican relationship.

In the first address to Congress by a foreign national leader this year, Calderon said that the two countries must cooperate to improve security along the often-violent border and to control the flow of immigrants into the U.S.

Calderon said a spike in violence in Mexico coincided with the expiration of the assault weapons ban in the U.S. in 2004.

“There is one issue where Mexico needs your cooperation, and that is stopping the flow of assault weapons and other deadly arms across the border,” he said, adding that he respects and admires the U.S. Constitution – including the Second Amendment, but that “Many of these guns are not going to honest American hands. Instead, thousands are ending up in the hands of criminals.”

First off, why is the head of a foreign country telling US to change our gun laws. And more importantly, why wasn’t he booed by any Republicans for it?

And of course he had to end his speech with a push for amnesty, along with a message in Spanish to the illegals here.

Note that Mexico is a country with plenty of natural resources, one of them being oil. And they have their share of very wealthy people too. So why can’t Mexico take care of her own people rather than dumping them on us? Calderon also stated that they (illegals) help our economy (snort). So if they’re supposedly so helpful to our economy, why can’t they be helpful to their own economy? And with that line of reasoning, why isn’t Mexico a First World country?

ICE Chief Has Refused To Enforce Arizona Immigration Law

Meet the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement John Morton who has come right out saying his agency will not enforce Arizona’s immigration law. (By the way, for those of you who want to read, you can download it from this site.

CHICAGO – Arizona’s new law targeting illegal immigration is not “good government,” a top Department of Homeland Security official said in Chicago on Wednesday.

John Morton, who heads U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said his agency will not necessarily process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona officials. The best way to reduce illegal immigration is through a comprehensive federal approach, not a patchwork of state laws
he said.

“I don’t think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution,” Morton said during a visit to the Chicago Tribune editorial board.

Can you believe the nerve of this man?!?!? Since when do government employees get to pick and choose which U.S. laws they’ll follow? This guy is clearly an Obama supporter, who’s taking his cues from his boss, who wants to flood this country irredentist, poor Mexicans who’ll invariably vote Democrat. Never mind that our middle class will be destoyed, and that we’ll become a Third World banana republic, it’s all about getting back at whitey. Here’s some background on the guy, who was (naturally) appointed by Obama.

Now I especially liked this comment:

Since the Federal law and AZ law are very close to being the same, with the AZ law being more lenient, Mr. Morton just said he will not uphold the law. This jackalope needs to be fired immediately! Mr. Morton we don’t care what you think or feel. You are paid by the tax payers to uphold the laws of the land. Do your job or quit and run for office. I can only hope you read the bill…

L.A. vs. Arizona — Round Two

Earlier this afternoon, I posted about how Commissioner Gary Pierce threatened to cut off Arizona’s electricity in response to L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa threat of a boycott. Here’s the L.A. Mayor’s wimpy response, through his spokesman:

“We’re not going to respond to threats from a state which has isolated itself from the America that values freedom, liberty and basic human rights,” Beltran said.

Since when is it a “basic human right” to enter a country illegally and mooch off of legal citizens?

Here’s what Pierce had to say:

“Doggone it — if you’re going to boycott this candy store … then don’t come in for any of it,” Pierce told FoxNews.com.

{snip}

Pierce told FoxNews.com that he was speaking for himself, not the entire commission, though he has the support of at least one other member. But Arizona has some serious leverage over Los Angeles, as well as the rest of California. The state and city get electricity from a nuclear power plant outside Phoenix, as well as from coal-fired power plants in northern Arizona and two giant hydroelectric power generators along the Colorado River.

Good! I would love to see Arizona cut of California’s electricity. It would serve those corrupt liberals right!

Obama And Mexican President Felipe Calderon Gang Up On Arizona

These two America hating looters got together at the White House to huff and puff over Arizona doing what the Federal government should have been doing all along.

President Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon joined hands Wednesday in blasting Arizona’s controversial immigration law, with Obama calling the legislation a “misdirected effort” after Calderon slammed it as discriminatory.

Obama, speaking next to Calderon during Wednesday’s state visit, called the tough immigration law a “misdirected expression of frustration over our broken immigration system.”

“We’re examining any implications especially for civil rights because in the United States of America, no law abiding person — be they an American citizen, illegal immigrant, or a visitor or tourist from Mexico — should ever be subject to suspicion simply because of what they look like.”

Obama said he has directed the Justice Department to review the law and said he expects to receive a final report soon.

Arizona’s law, which takes effect in July, will make it a crime under state law to be in the U.S. illegally

At the start of Wednesday’s White House visit, Calderon said the law discriminated against Mexicans and called for the two countries to work together to develop an immigration policy that did not force people to live in the shadows “with such laws as the Arizona law, which is forcing our people to face discrimination.”

Calderon, whose remarks were translated from Spanish, said “We can do so if we create a safer border — a border that will unite us instead of dividing us.

“We are and will continue to be respectful of the internal policies of the United States and its legitimate right to establish, in accordance to its Constitution, whatever laws it approves,” he said, “But we will retain our firm rejection to criminalized migration so that people that work and provide things to this nation would be treated as criminals.”

Now I wonder if Obama (unlike Attorney General Eric Holder) will even bother to read the Arizona law, which I understand is much shorter than the health care bill. As for Calderon, regardless of whether or not he wants to call it migration, it’s still breaking our law.

So I propose that all patriotic Americans start boycotting Mexico immediately.
