Oklahoma Votes To Make English Their Official Language

Good for them! If only other states would follow Oklahoma’s lead. Don’t be surprised if the ACLU and MALDEF sues the state.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma voters have approved a measure requiring that all official state actions be conducted in English.

The author of the official English bill, Rep. Randy Terrill, R-Moore, has said that English and the “melting pot” process it makes possible, “has made the United States the most successful multiethnic nation in history.”

The measure drew opposition from several groups, including the League of Women Voters of Oklahoma, which says the question discriminates against new citizens who want to do business with the state.

Democrats Get Their Donkey’s Handed To Them In New Jersey And Virginia

Via AP

Conservative Republican Bob McDonnell beat R. Craig Deeds in the governor’s race. As for New Jersey, the AP has declared Chris Christie the winner of the governor’s race over Democrat Jon Corzine.

The president had personally campaigned for Deeds and Corzine, seeking to ensure that independents and base voters alike turned out even if he wasn’t on the ballot. Thus, the losses were blots on Obama’s political standing to a certain degree and suggested potential problems ahead as he seeks to achieve his policy goals, protect Democratic majorities in Congress and expand his party’s grip on governors’ seats next fall.

{snip}

In both states, the surveys also suggested the Democrats had difficulty turning out their base, including the large numbers of first-time minority and youth voters whom Obama attracted. The Virginia electorate was whiter in 2009 than it was in 2008, when blacks and Hispanics voted in droves to elect the country’s first black president.

This is exactly what Juan Williams was saying on Fox News, and I wonder why that is. Could ACORN keeping a lower profile have something to do with it?

The Obamunists Go After Joe The Plumber

By now, I’m sure you’ve all heard about Samuel “Joe” Wurzelbacher, who asked Obama about why he would be penalized in an Obama presidency for starting a plumbing business making over 250,000 a year. Obama justified his proposed looting by saying that wanted to “spread the wealth around.”

Anyway, the MSM and pro-Obama plumbing unions are not taking kindly to their black supremacist Muslim, Marxist Messiah even being questioned.

Here’s one hit piece from the New York Times Caucus blog.

An official at Local 50 of the plumber’s union, based in Toledo, said Mr. Wurzelbacher does not hold a license. He also has never served an apprenticeship and does not belong to the union. (The national plumber’s union, the United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters, and Service Mechanics, endorsed Mr. Obama, it should be noted.)

“He’s basically playing games with the world,” Thomas Joseph, the local’s business manager, said in a telephone interview Thursday morning.

{snip}

Unlike some other states, Ohio does not have a formal statewide licensing system for plumbers. But the city of Toledo and other municipalities do, Mr. Joseph said, and Mr. Wurzelbacher has not met those requirements.

“All contractors are licensed, and he does not have a license, either as a contractor or a plumber,” the union official said, citing a search of government records. “I can’t find that he’s ever even applied for any kind of apprenticeship, and he has never belonged to local 189 in Columbus, which is what he claims on his Facebook page.”

According to public records, Mr. Wurzelbacher has been subject to two liens, each over $1,000, one of which — a personal tax lien — is still outstanding.

And his question to Mr. Obama about paying taxes? According to some tax analysts, if Mr. Wurzelbacher’s gross receipts from his business is $250,000 — and not his taxable income — then he would not have to pay higher taxes under Mr. Obama’s plan, and probably would be eligible for a tax cut.

Now I should think this whole business of whether or not Wurzelbacher has a license should be between him and his current employer. Apparently, his boss saw fit to hire the man. So I don’t understand why this whole licensing business means the man can’t ask Obama a question about his tax plan.

But that’s not how the Obamunists see it. A few weeks ago, I posted about the truth squads in Missouri, to counter claims that Obama is not a Christian. Now the same kind of harassment is going on here, and Obama hasn’t even been elected.

The plumbers union in Toledo, who by the way, supports Obama, is is moving to shut down Joe the Plumber. And for some reason, Allahpundit thinks it’s a good thing.

Of course the left wing blogosphere has joined the fray as well.

And we have that hag Joy Behar of The View belittling Joe

Guess Who Might Be Running For Congress

Do any of you remember Lt. Col. Allen West, who fired a shot at an Iraqi terrorist he was interrogating in 2003? I do.

I also remember briefly reading a New York Times article about how he “menaced” an Iraqi, and how he was looking for other work.

Anyway, he’s now considering a run for Congress in a Republican bid for the seat of Rep Ron Klein (D-Boca Raton).

I say, more power to him!

John McCain Sort of Throws His Hat Into the Ring for 2008

Word is that he will form an exploratory committtee to see about running for President in 2008.

McCain positioned himself yesterday as a candidate who would restore Republican principles. He said voters decided last week “that we Republicans have lost our way, that we came to Washington to change government, and government changed us: the spending, the ethics, the massive programs such as Medicare prescription drug program, our failure to address their priorities as opposed to our own.”

This idiot Manchurian candidate is going to restore Republican principles?!? He wouldn’t know one if it bit him in his rear! Notice that he conveniently ignores illegal immigration, and how he was agressively pushing for a guest worker program. And then there’s also his insistence that terrorists be treated with kid gloves. With “Republicans” like this, who needs enemies.

Suffice it to say that John McCain will never get my vote.

What the Democrats Have In Store For Us

For any of you who were pleased when El President Jorge Bushito finally authorized the building of a 700 fence along our Southern border, don’t get your hopes up. Rep. Bernie Thompson (D-Mississippi), who will be the new Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee says the Democrats will “revisit” the issue, and maybe even scrap the whole thing.

Uh, right, let all of Mexico pour into our country, that way the Donks will get more and more votes. Just you wait, Jorge Bush will get his guest worker program passed with these Donks now in power.

And another item for the chopping block by our beloved new Congress will be the NSA surveillance program.

G-d help us all.

MSM Already Making Election Doomsday Noises

They doing this by pre-emptively criticizing the accuracy of the voting machines, bringing up voter suppression, and lamenting about how some polling places require, gasp, photo id’s.

As I see it, this is all about laying the ground work for upcoming lawsuits if Democrats lose any seats. They will claim disenfranchisement, discrimination, voter suppression and anything they think a liberal judge will buy.

Naturally, the New York Times doesn’t see it that way. In their view, they’re only doing their duty by warning the poor liberal voters about all the dirty tricks the big bad Republicans will pull to make sure their votes don’t count.

Furthermore, the MSM is “predicting” trouble in Missouri due to the right race with Senator James Talent and Democratic challenger, State Auditor Claire McCaskill.

Both parties already are complaining about possible voting trouble. Democrats and their allies say voters may be confused by a new state law requiring them to bring a photo ID to the polls. The law was struck down in court.

“Will poll workers inappropriately ask for ID? Will those kind of disputes lead to provisional ballots?” asked Tova Wang, an elections specialist at the Century Foundation.

The National Voting Rights Institute has also jumped into the fray by bringing up irregularities in the 2004 election, in a study they put out.

Now I know I’ll probably get a lot of grief for this, but if a person is so stupid that he or she would find a law requiring a photo id confusing, then maybe they should just stay home. In any case, if anyone is to blame for voter confusion, it’s the Democrats, who target the “stupid vote” in every area.

Republicans, for their part, accuse Democrats of a history of voter fraud in the state. They point to the indictment last week of four workers for a liberal group, ACORN, alleged to have submitted false voter registrations to Kansas City’s election board.

Not suprising since Democrats act like vampires exposed to sunlight whenever anyone requires proof of citizenship/residence for voting. If the donks had their way, dead people, felons and illegal aliens would have the exact same voting rights as legal, law abiding citizens.

Michelle Malkin has more on the Dems’ preemptive delegitimization plan.
