Mayor Bloomberg’s Nanny State Initiatives Not Going Over So Well With New Yorkers

Hat tip: Chris

More than half of New Yorkers polled by Quinnipac are opposed to Mayor Bloobergs proposals to ban large sugary soft drinks, and to hide baby formula from new mothers in hospitals.

Let me just say that I rarely drink soda. And I *never* drink sugary beverages. Sugar is known to be unhealthy in so many ways. Diet sodas aren’t much better either, as they can leech calcium out of your bones, and just make you crave more sweet foods. But I still don’t think it’s the Mayor’s place to propose a ban on these drinks. The same thing holds true for hiding baby formula. One thing I sort of agree on is the “stop and frisk” program. Being that we’ve refused to close down our borders for years, it’s the least the police can do.

A proposal before the city Board of Health would limit servings of sugary drinks to 16 ounces (473 ml) at most restaurants, theaters, delis, vending carts and stadium concessions. It is the first of its kind in the nation and has been vigorously opposed by the soda industry.

A separate initiative would encourage breast-feeding by making baby formula less available to new mothers.

{snip}

Voters oppose Bloomberg’s sugary soft drink proposal by a margin of 54 percent to 42 percent.

They oppose the breastfeeding initiative by an even greater margin, with 56 percent of voters opposed and 24 percent in favor. Six of 10 women oppose the initiative.

Pack Of Feral Female “Youths” Stab 63 Year Old Man On Subway

In case you’re wondering what it was that set off these monsters, it was simply because the 63 year old man asked them to quiet down.

A wolf pack of drunken young women “acting stupid” on the downtown No. 6 train after an all-night party stabbed a 63-year-old man yesterday — for having had the nerve to ask them to pipe down, police said.

The man was on his way to work as a vendor near the World Trade Center at about 6:15 a.m., a law-enforcement source told The Post.
“The eight females were acting stupid. He just told them, ‘Relax. Calm down,’ ” the source said.
Instead, one stabbed the man, Ralph Carnegary, in the shoulder. He was in stable condition at Bellevue.

The women were busted on the street near at the 23rd Street station.
A city bus driver who witnessed the arrests said the women, beers in hand, were screaming, “We didn’t do anything.’’
Seven of them, ages 17 to 20, were charged with gang assault, disorderly conduct, rioting, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and felony assault.
Cops added that they recovered a knife.

The suspects later shouted and cursed at reporters and photographers as they were led to a police van.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bloomberg has been doing nothing but trying to outlaw guns, ban oversized soft drinks, and most recently, telling hospitals to hide baby formula so new mothers will breastfeeds their kids.

Instead, these “women” need to be thrown in jail and their welfare terminated.

Occupy Wall Street Protesters Finally Get Booted Out of NYC’s Zuccotti Park

All I can say is that it’s about time these Occuterd hoodlums got the boot. For over a month, this group of human scum, in New York and elsewhere has been treated with kid gloves by the news media and the political establishment. I think it only goes to show the character of the people involved and all they represent when you read news about rapes, drug overdoses, and cases of tuberculosis. And let’s not forget this lovely specimen of humanity who saw fit to defecate on a police car.

Still, I could go on and on. I’ve been following the news as much as possible with my busy work schedule, and I just didn’t even know where to start.

Anyway, they’re finally being thrown out of Zuccotti Park in downtown Manhattan.

What does it tell you about these so-called protesters when the police have to don riot gear to clear the park?

Marine Vet Ousts Occupy Wall Street Hoodlum From Swearing In of NYC Congressman

Do you all remember Bob Turner, who won the seat one held by disgraced former Congressman Andrew Weiner?

Apparently, one (of the many) smelly Occupy Wall Street hoodlums couldn’t take the fact that Bob Turner, a conservative Republican very fairly replaced Anthony Weiner. So never mind that our system worked exactly the way it was supposed to, Occuterd Adam Weissman decided to heckle Mr. Turner, and was then dragged out of the room.

Meet New York’s newest hero.

Kevin Hiltunen, a former NYPD officer, yesterday grabbed an Occupy Wall Street demonstrator by the collar and dragged him out of a Queens school where he’d been heckling US Rep. Bob Turner at the congressman’s swearing-in ceremony.

“I guess you could say I sorted him out,” said Hiltunen, 48, his jacket and tie barely mussed after dragging the scruffy protester out on his rear end.
“All I was doing was trying to stop this historic occasion from being disrupt-ed. There is a time and place to exercise your First Amendment rights,’’ said Hiltunen, of Bergen Beach, Brooklyn, who was identified by people at the ceremony as an ex-Marine.

{snip}

Afterward, Turner blasted the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators and praised Hiltunen.
“Protesters are on the wrong track. Socialism has been tried again and again, and it doesn’t work,” said Turner. “He picked the wrong guy to pee off.”

{snip}

Weissman, meanwhile, was unapologetic for disrupting the ceremony. After getting the boot, he was distributing OWS fliers on Metropolitan Avenue.
“Before I got grabbed by those people, I wanted to say that Bob Turner has only been in office for two months and he has already sold out his supporters,” said Weissman, adding that he twisted his ankle in the melee but otherwise was “OK.”

“How can you support a man who is a backer of free backdoor trading with China?” he asked.

Republican Bob Turner Wins Anthony Weiner’s Seat In Democrat Leaning Ninth Congressional District in NYC!

His opponent was Democrat so-called Orthodox, self hating Jew David Weprin. I say self-hating for the following reasons:

Weprin, who is nominally an Orthodox Jew, supported legalizing same-sex marriage, upsetting Orthodox Jews, who comprised about a third of the Jewish voters in the district according to a New York consultant.[14] In a 2011 debate against Bob Friedrich, his opponent for the New York Assembly, Weprin defended the Park51 project. Turner had hosted a demonstration against Park51 and attempted to use Weprin’s comments to ensure support of Jewish district residents opposed to Park51.[15] Former New York mayor Ed Koch supported Turner to send a message to Barack Obama about his disagreements with the Israeli government.[16] Turner was also supported by Assemblyman Dov Hikind, a Democrat and an orthodox Jew, and local rabbis.[4]

Here’s some background on Bob Turner.

This win appears to be all about Obama’s sagging approval ratings, due to his massive spending, and his pressuring of Israel.

{snip}

The heavily Democratic district, which spans parts of Queens and Brooklyn, had never sent a Republican to the House. But frustration with the continued weak national economy gave Republicans the edge.

Turner has vowed to bring business practicality to Washington and push back on spending and taxes.
The race was supposed to be an easy win for Democrats, who have a 3-1 ratio registration advantage in the district.
Weprin, a 56-year-old Orthodox Jew and member of a prominent Queens political family, seemed a good fit for the largely white, working-class district, which is nearly 40 percent Jewish.
But voter frustration with Obama put Weprin in the unlikely spot of playing defense. A Siena Poll released Friday found just 43 percent of likely voters approved of the president’s job performance, while 54 percent said they disapproved. Among independents, just 29 percent said they approved of Obama’s job performance.

Weprin became embroiled in New York-centric disputes over Israel and gay marriage, which cost him some support among Jewish voters.
Orthodox Jews, who tend to be conservative on social issues, expressed anger over Weprin’s vote in the Assembly to legalize gay marriage. In July, New York became one of six states to recognize same-sex nuptials.

Former Mayor Ed Koch, a Democrat, endorsed Turner in July as a way to “send a message” to Obama on his policies toward Israel. And Weprin was challenged on his support of a proposed Islamic center and mosque near the World Trade Center site, in lower Manhattan.

Now while this is good news, word is the 9th congressional district is expected to be eliminated in about a year.

Whoever wins Tuesday’s special election may not serve for long.

The seat is expected to be targeted by state lawmakers who will be forced to eliminate two districts next year.

Here’s what a Manhattan conservative acquaintance emailed to me about this elimination:

I LIVE IN DISTRICT 9 WHERE THE NY GOP HAS TOLD NY 1 THE LOCAL TV NEWS STATION AND THE TURNER CAMPAIGN STATED LAST NIGHT, THAT THE NY GOP WILL DISSOLVE THE NEWLY REPUBLICAN DISTRICT IN ONE YEAR AND TURN IT OVER/MERGE IT INTO THE ADJACENT LIBERAL DEMOCRAT, OBAMA LOVING DISTRICT. TURNER SPOKESPERSON STATED THE GOP DID NOT BELIEVE IT COULD RETAIN THE 9TH DISTRICT SEAT IN 2011 AND SO PREFER TO MERGE IT WITH THE ADJACENT DISTRICT FIRMLY IN THE HANDS OF LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP.

TURNER HIMSELF STATED IN HIS VICTORY SPEECH, “WE WILL SEND A MESSAGE FOR 1 YEAR.” TURNER AGREED TO COME OUT OF RETIREMENT TO RUN FOR WEINERS SEAT WITH THE PROVISO THAT HE WAS ONLY WILLING TO GO TO WASHINGTON FOR 1 YEAR. THE NY GOP AGREED TO TURN THE DISTRICT OVER TO THE DEMS AT THAT POINT BY DISSOLVING IT INTO THE ADJACENT DISTRICT.

THE REASON THAT THE DEMS HAVE HELD THIS DISTRICT AND MANY OTHER ONES LIKE IT IN QUEENS AND BROOKLYN IS BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN A FINANCIAL DEAL BETWEEN THE LOCAL GOP AND THE DEMOCRAT CLUBHOUSE TO KEEP THESE DISTRICTS IN DEMOCRATIC CONTROL.. THAT HAS BEE THE CASE IN NITA LOWEYS AND CHUCK SCHUMERS DISTRICTS AMONG THE MANY.

IN EXCHANGE FOR THE GOODS FROM , GOP HAS ALWAYS RUN LOSER CAMPAIGNS WITH LITTLE PR IF ANY, WITH LOSER CANDIDATES WHO LIKE A PAID OFF PRIZE FIGHTER, DO NOT MENTION THE WORD REPUBLICAN AND PLAN TO LOSE.

THE ONLY REASON TURNER WON THIS TIME IS BECAUSE 1. THE VISIBILITY OF THE WEINER SCANDAL AND 2 THE DEAL WITH THE DEMOCRATIC CLUB HERE WAS MUCH MUCH BIGGER…LET TURNER WIN, AND IN ONE YEAR HE WILL RETIRE AND WE WILL CEDE/MERGE THE ENTIRE 9TH DISTRICT TO THE LIBERALS.

LAST NIGHT TURNER SAID IN HIS ACCEPTANCE SPEECH, “WE WILL SEND A MESSAGE FOR 1 YEAR.”

THE FIX IS IN AS USUAL, AND THE LOSERS ARE UNFORTUNATELY THE VOTERS OF THE 9TH DISTRICT WHOSE CORRUPT GOP LEADERSHIP IS GOING TO SELL THEM OUT NEXT YEAR.

Anthony Weiner Not Gone Yet!

For those of you who assumed Congressman Anthony Weiner would really be gone after announcing his resignation, don’t get your hopes up. Being that the whoring congressman has yet to submit a letter of resignation to House Speaker John Boehner, it looks like New Yorkers are still stuck with him.

Although the randy rep. announced Thursday that he was quitting after seven terms, he still has to submit a resignation letter to House Speaker John Boehner that says which day will be his last serving his Brooklyn-Queens constituents.

Even after that happens, his staff will stay on, and his offices — in the Capitol and New York — will be run by the House clerk, officials said.
“Our offices will be open and fully staffed on Monday,” Dave Arnold, who has served as Weiner’s congressional spokesman, said yesterday.

{snip}

Every day Weiner puts off his official departure date enlarges his congressional pension.
But so far no one has pushed for Weiner to clear out of the Capitol.

A fellow New York City conservative acquaintance of mine actually predicted this a few days ago. Here’s what she wrote in her email:

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT VIEWED THE FULL FRONTAL NUDE PHOTOS WEINER TOOK OF HIMSELF ON GOVERNMENT PROPERTY BOTH FROM THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES GYM AND FROM INSIDE HIS OFFICE…YOU KNOW THE ONES WHERE HE IS GRABBING HIS OWN NAKED GENITALIA, WITH HIS GOVERNMENT ISSUED BLACKBERRY DURING GOVERNMENT WORKING HOURS, YOU NEED TO GET UP TO SPEED FAST.

ON THURSDAY WEINER, THE DEMOCRAT CROOK ANNOUNCED HE WAS….OPERATIVE WORD WAS RESIGNING HIS SEAT…
HOWEVER HE DID NOT SAY EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.

IN FACT, ON FRIDAY…THE HOUSE WAITED FOR HIS LETTER OF RESIGNATION TO BE GIVEN TO THE SPEAKER, SO THEY COULD TAKE A VOTE TO ACCEPT IT.

THATS HOW A MEMBER OF CONGRESS RESIGNS AND THAT IS HOW HIS PAYCHECK ENDS. THE LETTER USUALLY PRECEDES THE PRESS CONFERENCE.

BUT THAT NEVER HAPPENED AND WEINER IS STILL A MEMBER OF CONGRESS. HIS OFFICE IN QUEENS SAYS IT HAS NO INTENTION OF SHUTTING DOWN AND HAS NO INFORMATION AS TO WHEN WEINER IS LEAVING OFFICE.

ON TOP OF THIS HIS PAL GOVERNOR CUOMO, ANOTHER OBAMA DOUCHEBAG, SAYS HE HAS NO IDEA WHEN HE WILL BE SCHEDULING A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR HIS SEAT.

THAT IS NOT NORMAL… THE PUBLIC HAS BEEN HAD. WEINER IS COLLECTING PAYCHECKS AND WITHOUT THE LETTER THERE IS NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT IT.

And speaking of Weiner’s pension, New York City tax payers will still be on the hook for it, and it’s going to be a hefty one.

The taxpayers will have to shell out up to $1.3 million to the randy rep over the course of his post-Congress career.
Under federal pension rules, Weiner can start collecting reduced pension benefits of up to $32,357 a year as early as 2021, when he turns 56, according to the National Taxpayers Union.
Based on cost-of-living adjustments and life expectancy, that could run up to $1.12 million, the watchdog group said.
If he waits until he turns 62, he could get the full pension of up to $46,224 a year, or $1.28 million, it said.
The tax union said congressional pensions are typically two or three times more generous than for workers earning comparable salaries in the private sector. Also, all members of Congress are enrolled in Social Security.

Update:

Weiner has finally submitted his letter of resignation.

How NYC’s Mayor Bloomberg Has Been In Bed With The Ground Zero Mosque People

Do you guys remember that whole speech Bloomberg made about how opposition to the Ground Zero mosque being un-American?

Thanks to Judicial Watch suing the Mayor’s office under the Freedom of Information Act, we now know that Bloomberg actively pulled strings to get the city to approve that mosque. Here are some tidbits:

A May 10, 2010, email from Daisy Khan, listed as Executive Director of the American Society for Muslim Advancement, to Fatima Shama, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs: “Is there a good time to chat tomorrow. We need some guidance on how to tackle the opposition.”

A letter supporting the Ground Zero Mosque drafted by Nazi Parvizi, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, to Julie Menin, Chairman of Manhattan’s Community Board 1, which had considered a resolution supporting the mosque. Parvizi crafted the letter for Daisy Khan’s signature, asking the board to temporarily withdraw the mosque resolution due to public outrage over the project. Parvizi described the purpose of the letter in a May 15, 2010, email: “What the letter will do, I hope, is get the media’s attention off everyone’s backs and give you guys time to regroup on your strategy as discussed…”

A legal review of the Menin letter sent to the Mayor’s office by Rauf on May 15, 2010. The letter contemplates the impact withdrawing the Community Board 1 resolution could have on the effort to de-designate the mosque site as a historical landmark at a June 22, 2010, Landmark Commission meeting, thus allowing the project to move forward:

“The Borough President (and Councilmember Chin) have a firm policy at speaking up at public agencies only after the community board has taken a position on an item. So withdrawing the resolution may affect their thinking about how helpful they can be on June 22. That in itself may not be fatal to getting [the site] de-designated but I do know that [Landmark Commission] Chairman Tierney was looking forward to having the ‘political cover’ their support would bring him.” The Landmark Commission ultimately decided to de-designate the property.

A May 7, 2010, congratulations email from Shama to Rauf, Khan and el-Gamal after the Community Board 1 finance subcommittee expressed support for the Ground Zero Mosque project: “Again-congratulations!!! This is very exciting for all of you and the community at large! Daisy, as always – you were AMAZING last night – thank you!”

A May 7, 2010, email from Khan to Rauf, el-Gamal and Shama after the finance subcommittee vote: “Just spoke with Commissioner Nazli Parvizi. She will call Julie Mennon [sic] to thank them for passing the resolution and ask how she can assist.”

Ron Paul Hysterically Tears Into Ground Zero Mosque Opponents

No wonder the pedofronters and other white supremacists love this man. He’ll stop at nothing to suck up to fanatical Muslims. Here’s what he had to say to Newsmax TV.

Conservatives are enamored with the idea of having an imperial presence on the world’s stage, with troops stationed around the globe, the elder Paul says. (Oh really? Since when do tax our subjects all over the world like we do in the U.S?)

“They support the war in Afghanistan and Iraq — and actually support plans for intimidating and moving toward war in Iran,” he says. (Has Ron Paul been hiding under a stone for the past few years? If anything, America under Obama has been very accomodating to Iran, so much so that they’re practically nuclear by now. And I hate to break it to the old man, but the Obama administration is also against Israel bombing his beloved Iran.) “They have to have a reason for that, and they can’t say it’s for oil or they can’t say it’s to . . . make them all democrats over there. (Of course it’s not for oil. Otherwise we wouldn’t be paying through the nose for it.)

“You have to have somebody you are willing to hate — you have to have a Hitler to hate.” (Sounds like Dr. Paul is saying that Hitler was nothing more than a bogeyman invented by pro-war Americans of the time.)

Paul believes such advocates are making Muslims that hate target to get Americans to support the wars.

“They have to keep the drumbeat of hate up, so they have to blame the entire religion,” he says. “That’s not everybody . . . that might support or not support building the mosque, because a lot of people just say, ‘That’s bad manners and they shouldn’t do it because they haven’t thought it through.’” (The last time I checked, Pamela Geller was not opposed to mosques being built in New York. She’s just opposed to them building it on Ground Zero, as are most of the protesters.)

Asked whether concerns about the $100 million project’s getting Iranian funding have merit, Paul says: “We never treat anybody else who is building a church or a mosque to check where actually the money is coming from and what everybody believes in. I mean, if something turns up, you deal with it if they break the law.

“But in religion and freedom of speech, you give people the benefit of the doubt.” (As far as I know, Jews and Christians have not gone around hijacking airplanes and blowing themselves up to kill as many innocents as possible.)

Suggesting that the government look into the project’s funding threatens the First Amendment because it would equal censorship, he says. New York GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio is among those who have urged such an audit. (Where do I even begin with this one?)

“I don’t want government coming in and checking on anything like this, and implying . . . that bad people have supported it,” Paul says.
